Chatham-Kent Council met for a regular meeting on Monday night, April 15, 2019.

Here is a recap of the meeting:

– A report on an Integrity Commissioner Complaint regarding former Councillor Derek Robertson was received by Council. Council also met in closed session to discuss the item. The annual report from the Integrity Commissioner was also received by Council. The following motion by Chatham Coun. Doug Sulman was also approved: “That administration be directed to arrange for educations session on the Integrity Commissioner, Code of Conduct and Delegated Authority By-law and that the session take place in 2019.”

– Wallaceburg Coun. Carmen McGregor entered a notice of motion requesting a report be brought to Council on May 13 to allow for better understanding of budget implementations to local Public Health services.

– North Kent Coun. Jamie McGrail entered a notice of motion to amend the Chatham-Kent Local Boards and Committees of Council Policy.

– South Kent Coun. Trevor Thompson entered a notice of motion requesting staff to develop a report outlining all the fees that affordable housing projects may incur and develop recommendations aimed to streamline the process and reduce costs.

– A report on an Encroachment – Roadway Abutting 523 Richmond St., Chatham was approved.

– A report on an Encroachment – Roadway Abutting 55 Elm Drive South, Wallaceburg was approved.

– Council approved a report on Municipally Significant Events – Lawn Summer Nights (Chatham) and Downtown Dresden Summer Night Market (Dresden).

– Reports on 2019 Parks Asset Lifecycle Projects, 2019 Indoor Pool Lifecycle Projects, 2019 Arena Capital Asset Lifecycle Projects (as amended) and 2019 Halls Lifecycle Projects were all approved.

– A motion by Chatham Councillor Kirkwood-Whyte re: Establishment of Advisory Committee of Council regarding Recreational Facilities was withdrawn.

– Tender Award contracts for Cold In-Place Recycling with Expanded Asphalt Material, 2019 New and Replacement Sidewalk and Concrete Repair Program and Supply and Place Gravel were approved.

– Council approved a new appointment to the Entegrus Powerlines Inc. Board.

– An information report on the Rogers Hometown Hockey Post Event Report was received.

– Several committee reports were approved.
