Chatham-Kent Health Alliance part of ESC LHIN-wide system downtime
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) and its regional partners in the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integration Network (ESC LHIN) will be undergoing a system-wide planned downtime on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The downtime will accommodate an upgrade of the network infrastructure at the Regional Data Centre to enhance CKHA’s computer systems.
During the downtime local servers and the connection to the Regional Data Centre will be unavailable in all clinical units at CKHA’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites.
CKHA has worked to ensure the appropriate processes are in place to continue to support quality patient care and to mitigate the impact on patients during the downtime.
This work includes identifying high risk scenarios and building contingency plans to address these situations should they arise during the downtime.
The downtime will require staff to implement their unit specific downtime procedures, which generally mean paper-based processes for patient admissions, transfers, patient charting, etc.
During this time patients and families can expect some minor delays, particularly in the Emergency Department due to the manual processes.
The guest wi-fi network will be accessible and all phone lines will remain open during the downtime.
CKHA appreciates its patients, families and visitors’ patience and understanding during this temporary downtime.
