Lambton OPP officials allege: On May 1, 2019 at 9:45 p.m. members of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended Oil Heritage Road just north of Douglas Line in Plympton Township to investigate a single motor vehicle collision.
Initial investigation has revealed that the vehicle was north bound on Oil Heritage Road just north of Douglas Line when it failed to negotiate a curve in the road.
It does appear that the vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch, travelled into a wooded area and struck a series of trees.
A short time later the vehicle became engulfed in flames.
The occupant of the vehicle is deceased.
The OPP has closed Oil Heritage Road between Lakeshore Road and Aberarder Line.
As well, Douglas Line between Lakeshore Road and Hillsboro Road is closed.
The OPP continue to investigate.
The OPP will provide an update to the investigation and the road closures on Thursday morning.
