Police: Critical injuries after ATV crash, theft of tools

Police investigate serious ATV collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 6 p.m. last night, emergency crews responded to an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) which had collided with a tree on Darrell Line in Chatham Township.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the ATV was travelling westbound on Darrell Line, left the roadway and struck a tree on the northside of the embankment.

The driver of the ATV, a 16-year-old Chatham youth, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

He was then air lifted to Victoria Hospital in London with critical injuries.

The Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation.

Woman charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, emergency crews responded to a collision involving a cyclist and SUV on Queen Street in Chatham.

The cyclist, a 26-year-old Chatham woman, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Through investigation, police suspected the woman was driving the SUV under the influence of alcohol and a roadside breath test was administered.

The woman failed and was arrested.

A 23-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.

She was released pending a future court date of June 18, 2019.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man wanted for two counts of theft under $5,000.

A 51-year-old Chatham man, was arrested and released pending a future court date of June 25, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, Peel Regional Police located a man wanted for failing to attend court in Chatham.

The 19-year-old man was arrested and transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police located a woman in Wallaceburg wanted for failing to attend court in February.

The 38-year-old Walpole Island woman was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 27, 2019 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address in Shrewsbury and obey a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Just before 11:00 p.m. last night, police located the man hiding in the stairwell of an apartment building in Blenheim.

The man fled the building on foot but was taken into custody a short distance away.

The 34-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on outstanding warrants for domestic related offences, drug possession, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with his release conditions and failing to attend court.

He was additionally charged with breaching his curfew and residency condition.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday at 2 p.m. and yesterday morning at 7 a.m. unknown suspects entered four trucks at Aecon Construction on Bothwell Street and stole various tools valued at approximately $15,000.
