Organizers for the Wallaceburg Canada Day Celebration regret to inform the community that the event scheduled for July 1, 2019 has been cancelled.
A number of circumstances, beyond the control of the organizers, has led to the event being called off.
“This decision was made with great difficulty, but given the situation, we felt it was the right move,” said Chris Glassford, this year’s organizer.
“We believe Canada Day festivities are important to the community and are an event that many families and children look forward to every year. It is our hope that a Canada Day event can be held next year in Wallaceburg and for years to come.”
Funds raised for the Wallaceburg event will be donated to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to be held in trust for the future use of Canada Day events in Wallaceburg.
The festivities had been slated to take place at Kinsmen Park in Wallaceburg on Canada Day.
Glassford added that he is encouraging people to support and attend other Canada Day events being held this year across Chatham-Kent.
