Durston heading to ‘the big city’

Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston will be suiting up for a brand new National Lacrosse League squad next season.

The New York Riptide selected the 25-year-old with the second selection in the 1st Round of the 2019 NLL Expansion Draft.

Durston expressed his excitement about the selection on Twitter.

“Looks like (I’m) heading to the big city,” Durston tweeted.

The Riptide and the Rochester Knighthawks were set to make their picks on Tuesday, July 9.

Ahead of the Expansion Draft, each team designated 11 protected players before the June 25 deadline.

Expansion teams were then allowed to select eligible players who were not on the protected list.

The Knighthawks selected first overall as a result of the Expansion Draft Coin Toss during halftime of NLL Finals Game 1 in Buffalo.

The draft will have 11 rounds and a maximum of 22 players being selected.

Durston had 15 goals and 32 assists in 18 games with the Buffalo Bandits last season, his second year with the club.

Durston spent the first two years of his professional lacrosse career with the Vancouver Stealth.

He has scored 81 goals and added 112 assists for 193 points in 71 games in his career.
