Pair charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 9:00 p.m. last night, police responded to a disturbance in a parking lot on Lacroix Street in Chatham.

As police arrived on scene, a crowd of people were observed gathered around a vehicle which immediately tried to flee.

The officer stopped the vehicle and through investigation learned that the driver was suspended.

She was arrested.

Through investigation, police located cocaine in the vehicle and crystal methamphetamine along with baggies and a digital scale in a backpack.

The 30-year-old woman of no fixed address has been charged with driving while under suspension, drug possession and possession for the purposes of trafficking.

Her passenger, a 28-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with drug possession and possession for the purposes of trafficking.

Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with assault

Last night, police responded to a disturbance in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man had assaulted his girlfriend while in her vehicle when she stopped at a local convenience store. The man also caused about $200 damage to her windshield.

The 19-year-old Windsor man was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning around 11:00 a.m. the woman attended Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham and stole a pack of Crest White Strips.

The woman left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items valued at $80.

Through investigation, police identified the woman responsible and she was arrested shortly after 2:30 p.m.

A 23-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of August 20, 2019.

Man charged with mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Orchard Heights in Chatham where the man damaged a window.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with mischief under $5,000 and drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of August 20, 2019.

Theft of motor vehicles

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, unknown suspect(s) stole a red 2010 GMC Sierra pick-up truck from Wren Line in Wallaceburg.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates AE88 624 and had ‘Anderson Web and Mechanical Contractors’ written on it.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, unknown suspects stole a red 2018 Ford F-150 truck from Old Street Line in Blenheim.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 125 2FV and had a silver tool box in the back.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday at 9:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a beige 2002 GMC pick-up truck with an extended cab from Charing Cross Road.

Theft of tools in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a home under construction on Nichols Drive.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole 3 20v DeWalt drills and batteries, 2 DeWalt cases, a DeWalt table saw and a grey tool bag with various hand tools.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $2.000.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 12:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked shed on Spurgeon Drive and stole various tools, two mountain bikes and hockey equipment.
