Pair charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday, a man and woman were observed stealing a blue recycling bin from the Car and Dog Wash on Park Avenue East in Chatham.

The pair then walked over the Pet and Wildlife Rescue building and entered their locked compound.

They filled the blue bins with empty cans and bottles donated to help fund the animal shelter.

Total value of the theft was estimated at $600.

Through investigation, police identified the man and woman responsible for the theft.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the pair and they were arrested.

A 34-year-old Chatham man and a 30-year-old Chatham woman were both charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

They were released pending a future court date of August 20, 2019.

Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday night, police responded to a disturbance in a parking lot in Chatham.

The man fled the scene but was apprehended following a short foot chase.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a backpack containing numerous items.

He was released unconditionally at this time pending further investigation.

Through investigation, police determined that the man was in possession of cocaine and purple Fentanyl already packaged for distribution.

A 33-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

He was released pending a future court date of August 22, 2019.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a man wanted for assault.

A 30-year-old Chatham man was charged and released pending a future court date of August 20, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man wanted for breaching conditions of his Probation Order.

A 34-year-old Ridgetown man was charged and released pending a future court date of August 20, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a man wanted for failing to comply with his curfew, uttering threats and failing to comply with his Probation Order by communicating with a specific Ridgetown man.

The 46-year-old Howard Township man was charged and released pending a future court date of August 20, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a man wanted in connection with a theft of lottery tickets on two separate occasions this month from a local gas station.

The 31-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Theft of ATV

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday at noon and yesterday morning at 6:30 a.m. unknown suspects entered a storage container on Coatsworth Road and stole a red 2016 Yamaha ATV along with four black Stanley rolling toolboxes, each full of various tools.
