‘Ontario Xtreme Cowboy’ coming to the Brigden Fair

Ontario Xtreme Cowboy is excited to be a part of the Brigden Fair on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

The OXC club was founded in Ontario in 2012, and is an affiliate of the Extreme Cowboy Association, based in the USA.

Xtreme Cowboy is an event that challenges both horse and rider to maneuver through a series of trail and farm-based obstacles demonstrating both horsemanship and speed.

Horses of all breeds are encouraged to participate.

Two of the primary purposes of the sport are to have fun with your horse while improving your horsemanship.

A score is given for each obstacle on the predetermined course.

A score is also given for overall horsemanship and there are time bonus points for speed.

Each obstacle consists of three components: the approach to the obstacle, the obstacle itself and the departure from the obstacle, with accuracy and efficiency scoring higher.

OXC offers eight divisions:

– Young Guns (age 7-11)

– Youth (12 to 18)

– Novice (over 18)

– Intermediate

– Non-Pro

– Green Horse

– Ride Smart (over 55)

– Pro

So there is truly a division for everyone!

For 2019 OXC is excited to offer 15 sanctioned races all over Ontario this year, with the top OXC riders bidding for the Champion Silver Buckles at the OXC Provincial Finals, to be held October 25 and 26 at the Ancaster Fairgrounds.

To participate at the OXC Brigden Race, riders must pre-enter to compete.

Entries opened on September 12 at 9 a.m., and close on October 8 at 6 p.m.

OXC also offers a $5 one-time single-use OXC membership to those that are want to give it a try.
