Man charged with property related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning, unknown suspects entered a vehicle on Chestnut Drive in Chatham and stole credit cards and personal identification.

Through investigation, police learned that a credit card had been used at a local grocery store to make three purchases.

Video surveillance of the transactions were obtained and police identified the man responsible.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 26-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with possession of a credit card knowing it was obtained by an offence, unauthorized use of a credit card and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a landlord and tenant dispute in Chatham.

Through investigation, a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 after damaging a door.

He was released pending a future court date of November 5, 2019.

Stolen bicycles in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, unknown suspects forced their way into a garage on Cardinal Crescent causing about $1,000 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole:

– A men’s black Trek Hybrid bicycle with ‘Trek’ written in silver on the frame

– A women’s blue Norco Liv bicycle with white tires and seat

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $1,500.

Theft in Thamesville

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday, unknown suspects stole a black homemade trailer from a business on Industrial Road.

The trailer is approximately 4’x8’ with a wire tailgate and was last seen with Ontario license plate M5084M.

Also stolen were a camo Baja Wilderness 250 ATV and a child’s red Polaris ATV.

Neither ATV were plated.
