Women charged with multiple counts of theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last month, police responded to a theft complaint as an elderly woman noticed her bank statement was in overdraft.

Through investigation, police learned that two women known to the victim, whom she trusted to help her on occasion purchase necessities of life had taken her debit card from her wallet without permission.

During the month of August, the pair used an ATM on multiple occasions to withdraw over $3000 from the victim’s account.

Yesterday, police located the pair and they were arrested.

A 41-year-old woman and a 65-year-old woman, both from Chatham, have been charged with 10 counts of theft of credit card and 10 counts of theft.

Both were released with conditions pending a future court date of November 6, 2019.

Man charged with breaching his curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 13, 2019 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Last night, shortly after 11 p.m. an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg observed the man walking on Reaume Avenue.

The 26-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Monday, police received information about domestic related offences that occurred between a couple while they lived together in Wallaceburg.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 28-year-old Chatham man has been charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and three counts of assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
