911 hang-up call leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday morning, police responded to a 911 hang up call at a residence in Chatham.

Officers located the owner of the cell phone and upon checking on her well-being, they observed a pair of shoes in plain view that were stolen from Sport Chek earlier this week.

As the officers placed the woman under arrest in connection with the shoplifting incident, she kicked both officers and resisted arrest.

The woman was taken in custody and transported to police headquarters.

Through investigation, she was also arrested in regards to a public morals investigation.

The 25-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, assault with intent to resist arrest, distribution of intimate images without consent and criminal harassment.

She remains in police custody, however will be released pending a future court date of December 4, 2019

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man in connection with a domestic related investigation.

The 20-year-old Chatham man has been charged with two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police received information that a woman wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions, shoplifting at Walmart in Chatham and failing to attend court was in the area of a residence on Chestnut Drive in Wallaceburg.

Upon police arrival, the woman fled on foot.

Following a short foot chase, the woman was taken into custody on Turnbull Avenue.

The 26-year-old woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday night, police responded to the report of a suspicious person riding a bicycle in the area of Howard Road and Manning Road in Chatham.

Officers located the man and through investigation, learned that he was wanted for breaching his Probation Order.

A 29-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date of November 26, 2019.

Industrial accident

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to an industrial accident at a farm on Bloomfield Road in Chatham.

The injured worker, a 34-year-old man, was transported to hospital for medical attention.

The Ministry of Labour was notified and has taken over the investigation.
