Man charged with break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, a man believed to be under the influence of illicit drugs, entered a woman’s apartment in Chatham without her permission and asked if he could use her washroom.

While in the residence, the man sat on the woman’s couch, placed two kitchen knives on her coffee table, pulled his pants down exposing himself and touched the woman inappropriately.

The woman was able to get the man out of her residence but not out of the building.

Police were called for assistance.

Officers located the man a short time later and he was taken into custody.

The 36-year-old Chatham man has been charged with several criminal code offences.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Real Canadian Superstore last month attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 52-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of January 7, 2020.

Disturbance in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 6 p.m. a 12-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on Baxter Street when three unknown male youths stopped him and demanded his jacket.

When the boy refused to comply, he was pushed off his bicycle and assaulted.

The boy sustained minor injuries.

One suspect was last seen wearing a ski mask and black hooded coat.

The other two suspects were last seen wearing grey and white hooded coats.

Theft of motor vehicle

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime last night between 6:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. unknown suspects stole a black 1995 Toyota Camry from a parking lot on Lacroix Street in Chatham.

The car was last seen with Ontario license plates AVVF 523.
