Police: ‘Hand gestures’ lead to confrontation, MVC, B&E

Mischief in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 7 p.m. two 17-year-old boys were waiting to cross Lacroix Street when hand gestures were exchanged with occupants in a passing red Honda vehicle.

The driver of the red Honda turned around and followed the boys to an apartment building on Mary Street.

Four passengers from the vehicle pursued the boys on foot, forcing their way into the building by smashing a glass door, causing about $500 damage.

The passengers followed the boys to the apartment they ran into and tried to kick the door in.

Police were called for assistance.

The vehicle and occupants fled prior to police arrival.

All suspects were described as white male youths, approximately 17-19 years old.

The front passenger was tall, approximately 6’ with an average build.

He had dirty blonde wavy hair with thin black framed glasses.

He was last seen wearing a white zippered sweater and light coloured jeans.

Two male youths were last seen wearing light coloured athletic clothes with dark coloured paisley designs on the pants and hoodie.

The fourth male youth was last seen wearing dark coloured athletic clothes.

Woman arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, an officer initiated a traffic stop on Montgomery Drive in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, the officer learned that a passenger in the vehicle was wanted by OPP.

The 38-year-old woman was arrested and turned over to OPP officers for court purposes.

Stolen vehicle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday, unknown suspects stole a 2018 blue convertible Camaro from a residence on Harvey Street.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CEKY 069.

Motor vehicle collision in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 10 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on St. Clair Street.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

A 19-year-old Ridgetown woman was charged with making a turn not in safety.

Break and enter in Chatham Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, two men forced their way into a home on Kent Bridge Road, causing about $100 damage.

The men fled in a stolen grey Pontiac vibe bearing Ontario license plates ARJF 907 when a family member attended the home.

The suspects stole various electronics, hockey cards and jewelry.
