Boil water advisory issued in Tilbury

A boil water advisory has been issued to consumers on the Chatham-Kent municipal water supply in the town of Tilbury and the surrounding areas of: Coutts Line, Mint Line, Dashwheel Road, Baptiste Road, and Tecumseh Line in Chatham-Kent.

“The reason for the boil water advisory is due to abnormal water sampling results,” Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials stated.

The Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Colby, is advising residents in the affected area to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes, which includes: drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice.

“This advisory measure will remain in effect until the Health Unit receives good results from two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart,” Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials stated.

Pre-recorded updates can be obtained by calling 519-436-3249.

A rescind notice will follow when the boil water advisory has been lifted.
