Rainfall warning issued in Chatham-Kent

A rainfall warning has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as rain, at times heavy, is expected.

“Light rain or drizzle will continue today before becoming heavier tonight,” forecasters say.

“Rain, at times heavy, will continue Saturday into Sunday morning.”

Total rainfall amounts of 50 mm or more are likely with the most of the rain falling Saturday, forecasters say.

“Strong southwest winds are also expected Sunday morning, especially along the Lake Erie shoreline where wind will gust up to 90 km/h,” Environment Canada officials stated.

“For information concerning flooding, please consult your local conservation authority or Ontario ministry of natural resources and forestry district office.”

Environment Canada officials added: “If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.”
