Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

A 43-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats.

He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Shoplifting incident leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint.

The pair fled prior to police arrival, however an officer on general patrol located their vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted on Smoke Line.

The pair were arrested and found to be in possession of methamphetamine and hydromorphone.

A 24-year-old Thamesville woman and a 62-year-old Thamesville man were both charged with theft under $5,000 and drug possession.

They were released pending a future court date of February 20, 2020.

The driver,the 24-year-old woman, was additionally charged with driving a motor vehicle with no insurance or currently validated permit and having cannabis accessible to the driver.

She will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on February 26, 2020.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police received information that a collision occurred on Grand Avenue in Chatham, however the driver at fault failed to stop.

Officers located the vehicle a short distance away when the driver struck a building.

The man exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

He was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 28-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and failing to stop after an accident.

He was released pending a future court date of February 11, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, a man wanted for being in possession of a stolen ATV attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 30-year-old Barrie man was arrested and released pending a future court date of February 14, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a man walking in Chatham who was wanted for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

A 55-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released pending a future court date of February 11, 2020.

Theft from vehicles in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime last night between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. two vehicles parked on Victoria Avenue were broken into.

A laptop, orange suitcase and tote bag were stolen.

Total value of the theft was estimated at $1,100.

Damage to the windows was approximately $600.

Stolen ATV in Harwich Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspects entered a shed on Front Line and stole a red 2005 Polaris ATV valued at $5,000.
