Tartans defend their LKSSAA girls hockey title

The Wallaceburg Tartans girls hockey team successfully defended their LKSSAA crown on Thursday in Wallaceburg.

The Tartans topped the LCCVI Lancers in the LKSSAA finals by a score of 6-0 at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

“These girls can play,” coach Tom Peel said on social media.

“Thanks to all the fans/families that came out to support us. Bring on SWOSSAA.”

Kate Martin led the way for Wallaceburg with 3 goals.

Natalie Sands added 1 goal and 2 assists, Sam Benedict and Keeley McCarter added one goal apiece, while Taryn Jacobs chipped in with two assists.

Sam Whiteye picked up the shutout in net for the Tartans.

Peel said this is 7th shutout for the Tartans in 15 games so far this season.

The Tartans await the winner from Windsor and Essex County, who they will meet in the SWOSSAA final.
