CK Victim Services is recruiting new volunteers

Chatham-Kent Victim Services (CKVS), in the midst, of a volunteer drive, has launched a new website aimed at providing updated information about the programs and services CKVS offers the community of Chatham-Kent. The website address is www.ckvictimservices.com

“Two volunteer training sessions will be offered in 2020 in Chatham-Kent. The first in the spring of this year, and the second in the fall,” said Executive Director, Kate do Forno, “we look forward to welcoming the new recruits to our team of valued volunteers.”

CKVS volunteers work as a member of a team to respond to crisis calls, support and advocate for victims’ rights, offer direction and guidance through the criminal justice system, and inform the victim of community resources, programs and compensation that they are eligible for.

“The training process takes place over several weeks, in the evenings, to accommodate individuals work schedules,” said Sonia Howard, Volunteer Coordinator, “the training ensures that all team members are taken through common scenarios our volunteers come across. We want to make sure that all volunteers feel supported and confident in their skills when out in the community.”
