Florence Smeltzer

Florence Smeltzer, a resident of Becher, passed away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance-Sydenham Campus, on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the age of 83.

Florence is the daughter of the late Lloyd and Freda (Elder) Squires. Beloved wife of the late Glen Smeltzer. Loving mother of Beverly Dion (Guy), Glenda Trudel (Normand), Laurie Smeltzer, the late Donald (surviving spouse Deb) and the late William (late Julie McLeod). Cherished grandmother of 15, great grandmother of 14 and great great grandmother of 2. Dear sister of Norma Pyne (late Bob), Joan Lumley (Phil), Kathy Lamore (Bill) and the late Helen Sullivan (late Dennis). She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Florence was a waitress at a few local restaurants before becoming a “Stay-at-home Mom” when her children came along. She often worked with her husband in his garage and around their home. They loved to take day trips and travel together. Florence has always had an interest in trains. She enjoyed looking at pictures of them and learning about them in Books. She also had a love for John Wayne movies.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, from 12 noon until time of funeral service in the chapel at 2 PM. Interment at Duthil Cemetery. If desired, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231.
