Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff has declared a state of emergency for the Erie Shore Drive area of Chatham-Kent.

Based on information received by the municipality on Thursday, it was announced that there is an elevated possibility of failure of a portion of Erie Shore Drive dike.
As a result, Chatham-Kent Council will meet for a special meeting Friday, February 28 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the issue.
“All residents of Erie Shore Drive and Erieau are urged to attend,” Municipal officials said in a press release.
“Residents along Erie Shore Drive who feel they cannot shelter in place and require emergency accommodation can call the Chatham-Kent Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628. They should advise that they currently live on Erie Shore Drive.”
