‘Music for the Mind’ event raises $30,000

On Wednesday February 26, Music for the Mind event organizer, Elisha Banks, presented Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) with a cheque for $30,000.

After spending time as a patient at CKHA, Elisha was determined to give back to the staff who helped her through such a difficult time, and created the Music for the Mind fundraiser.

The event took place on Friday, February 7 at The Kent in Chatham, and featured performances from local bands Blutonium, The Chasers, Toast & Jam, and Walkin’ 47.

In addition to these musical performances, attendees enjoyed a fun social evening that included a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, as well as the opportunity to purchase event merchandise.

“The event was a huge success,” said Mary Lou Crowley, President & CEO, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, in a media release.

“I was inspired by the turn out and the incredible support shown for Elisha by all in attendance. It is clear that our Chatham-Kent community is passionate about supporting mental health, and I am so appreciative for everyone’s contribution to our local hospital.”

In addition to the evening festivities on February 7th, Elisha organized community fundraisers including a Boston Pizza Celebrity Night, Charity Bingo at Riverview Gaming Centre, and an online auction with over 160 items. Through these initiatives and the generous donations from many individuals and businesses, Elisha was able to significantly exceed her original fundraising goal of $5,300.

“CKHAF is so fortunate to be supported by individuals like Elisha who demonstrate incredible passion for local healthcare,” stated Gaye Thompson, Board Chair, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, in a press release.

“The work of the Foundation would not be possible without our fundraising partners in the community who are so motivated to make a positive difference.”
