Crash on Murray Street in Wallaceburg

A man suffered life threatening injuries after a crash involving a school bus in Wallaceburg on Thursday afternoon, March 5.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege shortly after 3:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a three vehicle collision on Murray Street near Base Line.

“Through investigation, police learned that a man was driving a pick-up truck on Base Line when he turned onto Murray Street and struck a stopped school bus and another vehicle, both stopped in the opposite turning lane,” police officials said in a media release.

“Luckily, there were no children on the bus at the time of the collision.”

Police officials allege the first officers on scene immediately provided medical attention to the man.

“The 56-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to Sydenham District Hospital and transferred to Windsor in life-threatening condition,” police officials allege.

The Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation.
