Man charged with drinking and driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 10:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver operating a taxi cab.

Officers located the vehicle in Chatham and suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside breath test was administered and the man registered a fail.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 58-year-old Chatham man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of March 25, 2020.

Police would like to thank the passengers of the cab for their diligence in reporting their road safety concerns.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, a man wanted for domestic related offences attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

The 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of March 11, 2020.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after midnight, police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation.

The 23-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police arrested a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Shoppers Drug Mart in Chatham and failing to attend court in January.

The 42-year-old Walpole Island man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen truck in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Wednesday at 9 p.m. and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. unknown suspects stole a green and gray 2004 GMC Sierra pick-up truck from a residence on Oxley Drive.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates BB42 021.

Theft from storage units

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, unknown suspects forced their way into three storage units on Queens Line.

Approximately $2,000 worth of property was stolen.
