Ontario Fire Marshal investigating Brownlee blaze

Update: Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege on Saturday night, shortly after 7:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a structure fire on Brownlee Crescent.

The homeowner was transported to Sydenham District Hospital and airlifted to a London Hospital for medical attention.

He was then transferred to a hospital in Hamilton.

Yesterday, the Ontario Fire Marshall attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.

Original story from Monday morning: The investigation is ongoing after a fire on the weekend at a home on Brownlee Crescent in Wallaceburg.

“Chatham-Kent police and fire received a call of a structure fire (on Saturday, March 22) at an address on Brownlee in Wallaceburg,” Chatham-Kent Police Service officials said in a media release on Sunday.

“A male party at this location suffered injuries from the fire and (was) transported to Sydenham District Hospital.”

Police officials say the Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario is currently investigating this fire.

“Any information can be forwarded to (Detective Abbott or Detective Hamilton) of the Chatham-Kent Police,” police officials say.

On Saturday, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services officials said the incident was a “serious house fire” in a tweet posted at 9:18 p.m.

Fire officials say the man suffered burns as a result.
