Youth charged with robbery

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a male teen was walking on Wellington Street East in Chatham when he was approached by a male youth known to him.

The youth threatened to hurt the teen if he didn’t give him the chain that was around his neck.

The teen gave him his chain and ran away.

The 17-year-old male youth was located by police a short distance away.

He was arrested and charged with robbery.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 4 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Keil Drive in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to a local police station for breath tests.

The 60-year-old Chatham man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He remains in police custody this morning and will be released pending a future court date when sober.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police located a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at No Frills in Chatham earlier this month.

A 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of June 3, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a woman wanted in connection with a theft from the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham earlier this month.

A 31-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of June 9, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police arrested a man wanted for failing to attend court this month.

A 48-year-old Raleigh Township man was charged and released pending a future court date of June 9, 2020.

Traffic stop leads to cannabis charge

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The driver, a 26-year-old London man was charged with having cannabis readily available and driving with no license.

The passenger who was also the registered owner of the vehicle, a 26-year-old London woman, was charged with allowing him to drive her vehicle with no license.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday at 6:30 a.m. unknown suspects entered the school under construction on McNaughton Avenue.

Once inside, the suspects stole copper pipes, cuplings, a DeWalt chopper saw and Milwaukee radio.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $2,000.
