Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Officers responded to a break and enter on Park Street in Chatham yesterday just shortly after 7 a.m.

Unknown suspects forced their way in to a garage, stealing a mountain bike.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Police responded to a second break and enter in Chatham yesterday on Victoria Ave at the Kendrick Funeral Home just shortly after 10 a.m.

Unknown suspects entered an unlocked door and made their way through the entire building.

Nothing was reported stolen.

Male charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, just before 6 p.m. Police responded to a disturbance in Chatham where a female had been assaulted.

Upon police arrival, the male was placed under arrest at which point he pulled away from officers and fled the scene.

A short foot pursuit took place with an officer catching the accused attempting to get into his car.

He continued to resist officers resulting in a CEW (Taser) being used.

The male was then taken into custody and transported to CKPS HQ where he was charged with assault, escape lawful custody and resist arrest.

He was later released with a future court date.

Man charged with mischief and assault with a weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night at approximately 10:27 p.m. police attended Domino’s Pizza in Chatham in regards to a male hitting cars in the parking lot with a 8’ steel pipe.

The accused was approached by two civilians who attempted to remove him, he then began swinging the pipe at them.

He was tackled to the ground by one of the civilians and once police arrived, he was arrested and transported to CKPS HQ.

A Chatham man was charged with mischief, weapons dangerous and two counts of assault with a weapon.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
