Chatham-Kent receives $3.6-million for transit projects

CKTransit announced on Thursday that Chatham-Kent has been awarded a $3.6 million grant from federal and provincial funding for transit infrastructure projects.

Municipal officials say applications were submitted in May 2019 for the Public Transit stream of the “Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program” (ICIP).

Projects included terminal upgrades, additional bus shelters, information and technology enhancements along with the purchase of new public transit vehicles.

“Achieving this important milestone allows the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to proceed with projects designed to better serve our transit users and to improve public transportation services for the community, CK Transit officials said in a media release.
