Trio charged with property related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Tuesday night, police received information about two men in possession of a stolen truck on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, police located the truck and learned that it was stolen during a break and enter in Bothwell, where property was also stolen from the residence.

Officers located the men and they were arrested.

In a nearby home, the residence of a family member, officers located in plain view, the stolen property from Bothwell, along with a woman whom was not to communicate with one of the men.

She was also arrested.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at the home on Sheldon Avenue, which resulted in stolen property being recovered.

Officers were able to identify items stolen from a break and enter in Harwich Township, identification stolen from Alvinston and ammunition of different calibers.

The 33-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft of motor vehicle, break and enter, four counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and being in possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order.

The 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft of motor vehicle, break and enter, four counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, breach of probation and three counts of being in possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order.

The 29-year-old Chatham woman was charged with failing to comply with her release conditions and three counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

They were all held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation remains on-going as officers liaison with neighbouring police services in an attempt to locate the rightful owners of the remaining stolen property.

Woman charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a woman in connection with a physical altercation that occurred in Wallaceburg last month.

The incident involved two women known to each other.

The 25-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with assault.

She was released pending a future court date of June 24, 2020.

Collision leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 6 p.m. last night, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bear Line Road near Pine Line.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 31-year-old Chatham man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of May 6, 2020.

Man charged with using stolen credit card

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Tuesday morning, police received information that unknown suspects had entered an unlocked vehicle on Elizabeth Street in Chatham sometime overnight and stolen a credit card.

The card was then used at a local convenience store.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible and he was arrested last night.

A 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply with his release conditions along with theft and fraud related offences.

He was released pending a future court date of June 24, 2020.

Pair charged with break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, police responded to a break and enter in progress at the Hydro One property on Horton Line.

Upon arrival, police observed the pair attempting to flee in a vehicle.

The pair were stopped and taken into custody.

Through investigation, police observed that they were in possession of break-in tools and learned that the men were not to communicate with each other.

A 57-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with break and enter, being in possession of break-in instruments and failing to comply with his release conditions.

A 41-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with break and enter, being in possession of break-in instruments and failing to comply with his release conditions.

Both men were released pending a future court date of June 24, 2020.

Theft of ATV

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Monday night and Wednesday morning, unknown suspects entered unlocked barns on Longwoods Road, just outside of Chatham.

Once inside, the suspects stole:

– 1500w generator

– 9.9hp Honda boat motor (grey)

– 1995 ATV Suzuki (blue)

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $5,000.

Theft of equipment

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the past week, unknown suspects entered unlocked farm buildings on Muirkirk Line and stole:

– 3 black oil pails with blue label ‘Case Akcela Unitek One’

– 3 black oil pails with red label ‘Case Akcela Ultra Traction’

– Portable air compressor, blue with black motor

– Torches, tanks and hoses

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $2,000.
