‘Shelter in place’ ends near Sarnia

Update #2: Sarnia Police Service officials allege just prior to 4 p.m. on today’s date, officers responded to a weapons call on Scott Road, just north of Lasalle Road and issued a shelter in place for Aamjiwnaang First Nations Reserve.

The shelter in place can now be lifted as police have deemed the area safe and there is no longer a threat to public safety.

At this time police remain on scene as the investigation continues.

Residents and businesses can continue normal operations.

More information is set to be released tomorrow, Sarnia police officials say.


Update #1: The Sarnia Police Service have ended the shelter in place regarding a weapons call.

Original story: The Sarnia Police Service are asking residents and businesses to shelter in place if you are located three kilometres from the intersection of Lasalle Line and Scott Road.

“Please remain sheltered until advised to do so by the Sarnia Police Service,” police officials say.

“There is a weapons related call currently in progress.”

The notice was issued through the My Community Notification Network (MyCNN) at 4:44 p.m.
