Police execute search warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, members of the Intelligence Section, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham.

A quantity of suspected methamphetamine and a .177 pellet pistol was seized due to a prohibition order.

A 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with drug possession and possession of a firearm, contrary to his Prohibition Order.

A 21-year-old Charing Cross man was arrested and charged with drug possession.

A 23-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with drug possession.

They were all released pending a future court date of August 6, 2020.

Disturbance leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham, between a man and woman, both on conditions not to communicate with each other.

A 52-year-old man was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and facilitating a breach.

He was released pending a future court date of August 7, 2020.

A 29-year-old woman was charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions.

She was released pending a future court date of August 5, 2020.

Property manager gets threatened in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance outside an apartment complex on Wallace Street.

Through investigation, police learned that a guest of a tenant threatened the property manager while arguing over a parking spot.

The 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of July 29, 2020.

Man breaches house arrest condition

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 25, 2020 a man was released from court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence at all times, except for medical emergencies or while in the presence of his surety.

Yesterday afternoon, police observed the man exit a taxi cab near a restaurant on St. Clair Street in Chatham, without his surety or for a lawful reason.

The 19-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release condition.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last month, police responded to the theft of a motorcycle from a residence on Edgar Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible.

Yesterday afternoon, police arrested the man who was also wanted in connection with the theft of a cell phone.

A 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of August 5, 2020.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, unknown suspects forced their way into a business on Park Avenue East and stole various hand and power tools, valued at approximately $600.
