Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Patteson Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the driver was suspended from driving.

The 53-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and upon being searched incident to arrest, was found to be in possession of suspected Fentanyl.

He was released pending a future court date of August 4, 2020.

Police further learned that a woman in the vehicle was wanted for drug possession and failing to attend court.

The woman was arrested and upon being searched incident to arrest, was found to be in possession of a crack pipe, suspected Fentanyl, combination of suspected crack cocaine and Fentanyl along with three loaded syringes containing suspected methamphetamine.

The 38-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with four counts of being in drug possession.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 5:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Dresden, between two men known to each other.

A 44-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was released pending a future court date of July 22, 2020.

Man charged with breaching his curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, police located the man at a motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently bound by four separate release documents to obey a daily curfew by remaining in his residence between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

A 57-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of July 28, 2020.
