Update: Investigation complete after Erie Shore Drive B&E’s

The Chatham-Kent Police Service has completed their investigation after several reported break-ins along Erie Shore Drive.

Police officials allege last month, officers were notified that seven residences and/or garages along Erie Shore Drive had been entered.

Approximately $10,000 worth of items were stolen with a combined total damage of about $1,000

On April 28, 2020 an officer on general patrol observed a stolen truck in Chatham.

Following a short pursuit and foot chase, the driver was arrested and charged with unrelated offences, police officials say.

At this time, police learned that stolen property from Erie Shore Drive was being stored at a residence in Chatham.

Officers attended the home and several stolen items were recovered.

The majority of these items have since been returned to their rightful owners, police say.

Officers have completed their investigation and today, and a 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with seven counts of break and enter along with one count of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

“We would like to thank the citizens of Erie Shore Drive for their patience and cooperation during this lengthy and complex investigation,” Chief Gary Conn stated in a media release.

“This investigation is a great example of community members and police working together to hold the person responsible accountable for their actions.”
