Crash outside of Wallaceburg leads to impaired driving charges

A collision, just outside of Wallaceburg, has led to impaired driving charged being laid.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege last night, police received information that a van was driving through fields on Whitebread Line.

Prior to police arrival, officers learned that the van had been involved in a roll over collision on Langstaff Line.

Officers located the driver at a nearby residence, police allege.

He was transported to hospital for medical attention and released.

“Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol,” police officials said in a media release.

“The man was arrested, however refused to provide any breath tests.”

The 31-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and dangerous driving.

He remained in police custody and was set to be released when sober, pending a future court date of August 5, 2020.
