Dresden Raceway eyeing June 7 start, without fans

Dresden Raceway officials are optimistic about getting their season underway next month.

“Some great news… as everyone knows the Provincial Government has said that we can commence racing,” Dresden Raceway officials posted on social media.

“Dresden Raceway is expecting to start racing on June 7, 2020 with qualifiers on May 31, 2020. We just have to make sure we are in compliance with the Municipality‚Äôs Health Unit. Please watch for more details… we should have the green light from C-K within the next few days.”

Dresden Raceway officials say they will post a complete list of protocols when it is complete.

“When we start racing there will be no fans but you will be able to watch and wager online,” Dresden Raceway officials say.

“The fundraisers have been cancelled for the foreseeable future but as the COVID-19 restrictions lift we will keep you posted on what we will be doing. Thank you to everyone for your patience.”

Track officials say they will release details about the Mark Austin Pacing Series as well.

“We are expecting to have the first leg on June 28, the second leg on July 5 with the final on July 12,” Raceway officials stated.

“Special Thanks to MPP Monte McNaughton for going to bat for harness racing… he is a big reason we are back on the track and locally to Mayor Darrin Canniff for his dedication and help to move this along.”
