2020 Terry Fox Run is going virtual

The 2020 Terry Fox Run is set to go virtual this fall, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Terry Fox Foundation is excited to announce that Canadians will continue to support cancer research through Virtual Runs from coast to coast to coast this September,” Foundation officials stated.

“Terry once said, ‘Anything is possible if you try.’ Today, 40 years later, we will have to innovate as well – we can’t think of anything that Terry would appreciate more. Help us celebrate the 40th anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope by joining us today.”

The virtual runs will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2020.

Foundation officials say people can register as an individual, family or a virtual team.

They are encouraging people to participate around their neighbourhood, backyard, down the street or around the block.

“Cancer research cannot wait for COVID-19 to be over,” Foundation officials say.

“Because Terry asked us to try. Because its the 40th anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope.”

Organizers in Dresden say if you register online between May 20 and May 31, you will be entered in a draw to win a pair of limited-edition Adidas ORION running shoes, a replica of what Terry wore in 1980.
