May 16th Miracle eclipsed ‘world record’ total for food donations

Organizers with the May 16th Miracle have announced over 678,200 pounds of non-perishable food donations were gathered across the community during their recent food drive.

“That food is helping to support food banks and food support programs in the community,” officials with 519 Events & Promotions posted on social media on Monday, May 25, 2020.

“This is more than the world record set in 2011 which came in at 559,855 lbs.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford showed his appreciation to the May 16th Miracle committee on Monday as well.

“I am so proud of the people of this province for stepping up during this challenging time,” Ford tweeted.

“To every person involved in the May 16 Miracle – thank you for what you have done. This is the #OntarioSpirit.”
