OPP: Cyclist hit by vehicle, drug charges laid in Corunna

Lambton OPP officials allege: On May 31, 2020 at approximately 8:15 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Fane Street and Lyndoch Street in Corunna involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle.

Lambton OPP members arrived on scene and spoke with all persons.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver and vehicle were searched, locating drug paraphernalia.

Further search of the two other occupants of the vehicle located suspected methamphetamine.

All three parties were subsequently arrested.

The driver was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment to perform the drug recognition evaluation.

The cyclist was transported to the local hospital with minor injuries.

A 30-year-old Corunna man has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, pursuant to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

A 26-year-old Aamjiwnaang First Nation woman was arrested and charged with Fail to Comply with Undertaking, pursuant to the Criminal Code, and Possesion of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, pursuant to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

A 25-year-old St. Clair Township woman was arrested and charged with Possesion of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, pursuant to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

All accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on August 13, 2020.
