Black Lives Matter march taking place in Chatham

A Black Lives Matter march is set to take place in Chatham on Friday, June 5.

The event will start from the W.I.S.H. Centre, 177 King St. E. in Chatham at 7 p.m.

“This is simple,” organizers said on social media.

“We march (or drive our vehicle) against racism!!! We are CK! We have shown so much of what we are made of in 2020, let’s keep going.”

Organizers added: “Let’s show the world that we are all about loving each other and that we will not tolerate racism any longer! There will be no room for hate or violence of any kind in this march! Only love! Let’s rise up Chatham-Kent.”

Over 400 people have confirmed their attendance on the Facebook event created, which can be seen, here.

Reports say CK Public Health and Chatham-Kent Police Service officials are supportive of the event, but want the demonstration to take place in a safe manner due to COVID-19.
