Disturbance leads to multiple arrests in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 8 p.m. police responded to a large disturbance between a group of people known to each other on Kirk Street, involving a knife and hammer.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was released pending a future court date of September 11, 2020.

A 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being in possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of September 11, 2020.

A 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of assault.

He was released pending a future court date of September 11, 2020.

A 22-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault.

She was released pending a future court date of September 11, 2020.

An 18-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault.

She was released pending a future date of September 11, 2020.

Three people sustained minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Charing Cross.

While police were present, the man spit in the woman’s face.

Through investigation, police learned that the man had previously threatened the woman during their relationship.

The 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats.

He has been released pending a future court date of August 19, 2020.
