Heat warning issued across C-K for the weekend

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning across Chatham-Kent.

“A heat event is expected for the weekend,” forecasters say, adding that timing us Saturday through Sunday, possibly extending into Monday for some locales.

Forecasters say the maximum daytime temperatures ranges from 29°C to 33°C and the humidex is expected to be between 36°C to 39°C.

The minimum overnight temperatures ranges from 17°C to 20°C.

“Hot and humid air can bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category,” forecasters say.

“The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Ask a health professional how medications or health conditions can affect your risk in the heat.”
