Police: Shed fire, B&E’s lead to arrests, warrant, fail to comply

Warrant arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, while on general patrol police located a women currently wanted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service for theft of a motor vehicle.

The 36-year-old Chatham women was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Fail to comply with house arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 1, 2020, a 41-year-old Chatham man was released from custody with a number of conditions including, to remain in your residence at all times except for medical emergencies or while in the presence of his surety.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man in a residence on Coverdale Street.

The man was not in his residence or in the presence of his surety.

The man was subsequently arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and enters lead to two arrests

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday evening police discovered that a number of tools were stolen from a building on Fourth Street in Chatham.

Video surveillance was reviewed and the suspect was positively identified.

A Chatham man was arrested for break and enter, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Police were also able to recover the stolen property which was returned to the victim.

The man was released from custody pending a future court date.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, residents of a house on St. Clair Street were woken up by two male parties attempting to gain entry into their garage.

The victim was able to scare the male suspects off, when one of them threw a hammer, which missed, at the victim.

Police attended the area and located one of the suspects.

The 29 year old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police are still attempting to identify the second suspect.

Fire

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a fire on Balmoral Line.

A passerby contacted 911 reporting a shed on fire.

The dilapidated shed was burnt to the ground.

There were no injuries reported and it is believed there was no property inside the shed.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
