Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 6, 2019 a man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to attend the home of a specific woman in Chatham.

Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance at this residence.

Officers located the man inside the home and he was arrested.

The 56-year-old Chatham man was charged with breaching his Probation Order.

He was released pending a future court date of August 11, 2020.

Man charged with breach of probation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 17, 2019 a man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to attend a specific convenience store in Chatham.

Yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man near the entrance of the store.

Officers located the man and he was arrested.

A 37-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with breaching his Probation Order.

He was released pending a future court date of August 26, 2020.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police received several reports of a woman screaming for help in the area of the black bridge in Chatham.

Officers located the woman and through investigation, learned that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.

Upon speaking with the woman, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

A short time later, officers located the man on Adelaide Street and he was arrested.

The 44-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault and uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Park Avenue in Chatham.

The officer recorded the man driving 74km/h in a posted 50km/h.

Through investigation, the officer further learned that the man was suspended from driving.

The 39-year-old man was charged with driving while under suspension and speeding.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on September 16, 2020.
