Chatham teen up for international voice acting award

Chatham-based Voice in the Wind Audio Theatre has announced that Georgia Craven of Chatham has received an ATC Seneca Award nomination for best leading actress for her role as Dorothy Gale in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz audio theatre production.

“This is quite an honour for Georgia as she took on an iconic role that included both dialogue and two original musical numbers,” stated David Farquhar, executive producer, in a media release.

“This nomination is especially rewarding when you consider she is up against some of the best American voice actors from production companies such as Adventures In Odyssey and Lamplighter Theatre, among others.”

Craven is a Grade 12 honours student at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.

She has an extensive background in acting, singing, and dancing, having performed across the province.

She starred in Theatre Kent’s 2016 Musical production of Anne of Green Gables and played the role of Katherine Plumber in her school’s production of Newsies.

The ATC Seneca Awards is an awards program that recognizes excellence in the world of family-friendly audio drama and is presented by Porchlight Family Media of Glendale, Arizona.

The 2019 award nominees were selected from all eligible productions released in the 2019 calendar year.

The winners will be announced in a live stream broadcast on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.

Voices in the Wind Audio Theatre also received a nomination for best cover art for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
