Lambton OPP: Multiple impaired drivers charged, K-9 helps track missing person

Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charge

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 17, 2020 at approximately 7:45 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Brigden Road in St. Clair Township.

Lambton OPP initiated a traffic stop in relation to a highway traffic act infraction.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided samples over the legal limit.

A 29 year-old St. Clair Township man has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on September 14, 2020.

Impaired driving charges laid following a crash

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 16, 2020 at approximately 11:35 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on St. Clair Parkway in St. Clair Township.

Lambton OPP members initially received a traffic complaint in relation to a possible impaired driver.

While on route to locate the vehicle, members were advised the vehicle struck multiple mailboxes and then collided with the guard rail.

The vehicle finally came to a stop when it struck a tree.

Lambton OPP members arrived on scene and upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and taken to the Lambton OPP detachment where they refused to provide a sample of breath.

A 69-year-old St. Clair Township man has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs and Failure or Refusal to Comply With a Demand, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on November 9, 2020.

K-9 helps locates missing person

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 18, 2020 at approximately 1 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Canine Unit (K9) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to a missing person at the Pinery Provincial Park.

Initial investigation revealed the person ran into the bush area and did not exit.

Upon arrival Lambton OPP members could hear the person yelling for help.

OPP K9 “Blitz” successfully tracked the person, locating them stuck in-between two trees.

Lambton OPP members assisted in removing the person from the two trees.

Lambton County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) attended as a precaution.

Impaired driving at RIDE check

Lambton OPP officials allege: On July 17, 2020 at approximately 10:46 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check at the intersection of Lakeshore Road and Egremont Road in the Township of Plympton-Wyoming.

At approximately 11 p.m. three motor vehicles entered the RIDE check.

Upon speaking with the drivers, it became apparent all three drivers had consumed an alcoholic beverage at which time a roadside screening device was administered.

A reading of “ALERT” was determined for two drivers.

As a result, a 45 year-old of Plympton-Wyoming and 20 year-old of North Middlesex were issued a 3-day driver’s licence suspension.

A reading of “FAIL” was determined for the third driver.

The third driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two suitable samples above the legal limit.

A 34-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on September 14, 2020.
