Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 58-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with impaired driving after police say she was seen travelling on the wrong side of the road on Saturday evening.
Chatham-Kent Police were dispatched to the area of Poplar Street at approximately 8:10 p.m. on July 18, 2026, for a vehicle complaint. Police located the vehicle in question and observed the driver travelling on the wrong side of the road, prompting a traffic stop.
Through investigation, police formed grounds to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol. The woman was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80+.
She was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and later released on an undertaking, with a future court date set for August 26, 2026.
