The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has identified the victim who drowned near Wheatley Provincial Park on July 12, 2020.
OPP officials say Chatham-Kent OPP and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the report of a possible drowning in the waters of Lake Erie at approximately 4 p.m.
Santos Cuc Diaz, 28-years-old of the Republic of Guatemala, was observed going into the lake and remaining under water for several minutes.
The victim was brought to shore and transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
