Historical sexual assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In 1989 a man allegedly sexual assaulted a nine-year-old boy.

In May 2020, police received information of the offence and conducted an investigation in the matter.

On Friday morning, a 54-year-old Chatham man attended the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where he turned himself in.

He was arrested for sexual assault and sexual interference.

He has been released from custody pending a future court date.

Firearms seized

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Police received information that a firearm was being stored unlawfully in a residence in Wallaceburg.

On Friday morning police obtained a warrant to enter the residence.

Police located several handguns in the residence that were not registered to the resident.

A 58 year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested for illegal storage of a firearm at unauthorized place and failing to report a lost restricted firearm.

He has been released from custody pending a future court date.

The firearms have been seized.

Break and enter in Chatham

Early Saturday morning, unknown suspects, forced their way into a residence on Turquoise Court in Chatham.

From here the suspects fled the residence with a substantial amount of cash.
