Man charged with breaching release conditions
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 3, 2020 the man was released from custody with several conditions.
One of those conditions stated that he was to notify police of any change in address, in writing within 24 hours.
Yesterday morning, police attended the man’s last known address to conduct a compliance check.
At this time, the officer learned that the man had moved out the week prior without notifying police.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the man walking on Richmond Street in Chatham and he was arrested.
A 41-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.
He was released pending a future court date of September 4, 2020.
Shoplifting leads to charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Chatham.
A 37-year-old Harwich Township man was arrested a short distance away and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.
He was released pending a future court date of September 11, 2020.
Man charged with texting woman
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police received information that the man, currently on conditions not to communicate with a specific woman in Wallaceburg, was texting her.
The 28-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.
He has been held in custody pending bail hearing.
Stolen vehicle from Chatham
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime last night between 9:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. unknown suspects stole a grey 2013 Chev Cruz from the parking lot of a business on Park Avenue West.
The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CHHF897.

Collision with deer
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, shortly after 11 p.m. police responded to a collision involving a deer on Charing Cross Road near Doyle Line.
Luckily, no one was injured.
Total damage was estimated at $5,000.
We would like to remind everyone that being aware and taking precautions can reduce collisions, save lives and protect wildlife:
– Scan the road ahead from shoulder to shoulder for any movement.
– Use high beams at night, when possible, and watch for the glowing eyes of animals.
– If an animal is crossing the road, stop as safely as possible, in your lane.
– Remember, if one animal crosses the road, others may follow.
– Never swerve suddenly. This may cause you to lose control of your vehicle, resulting in a more serious collision.

Domestic arrests
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday morning, police received third hand information that a man had assaulted his ex-girlfriend.
Police spoke with the female victim at her residence in Ridgetown who suffered a broken elbow.
Police located the male and placed him under arrest for assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
The 27 year-old Blenheim man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday morning, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Dresden.
Police learned that the two male party’s had recently separated.
One male had allegedly threatened the other male.
A 22 year-old Chatham man was arrested for uttering threats.
He was taken into custody and later released with a future court date.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a Tim Hortons in Chatham.
Police learned the male and female involved had been separated for approximately one year.
The female victim had accused the male of assault.
A 63 year-old Chatham man was arrested for assault.
He was taken into custody and later released with a future court date.
