Update: Multiple charges laid on Aamjiwnaang First Nation

The Sarnia Police Service have released more details after a weapons incident on Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: The accused in this matter had been having ongoing disputes with various individuals in his community.

On August 29, 2020, the accused had attended his residence and then returned to an address on Wahboose Circle (Aamjiwnaang First Nation).

Upon attending the residence, the accused targeted two individuals that were present and fired several rounds towards them.

Only one individual was struck in the arm and sustained minor an injury that was treated at Bluewater Health.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. members of the Sarnia Police Service Community Patrol Branch along with members of the Emergency Response Team, and the Criminal Investigations Branch responded to contain the area around Wahboose Circle, Beaver Circle, LaSalle Line, and Vidal Street South.

Shortly after midnight the suspect was taken into custody without any further incident at his residence on Beaver Circle.

Officers later executed a search warrant of the residence and located several firearms and pellet guns in the house.

Currently, a 46-year-old man, remains in custody and is facing the following charges:

– Seven counts of uttering threats to cause death

– Two counts of assault with a weapon

– Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

– Unauthorized possession of a firearm

– Two counts of pointing a firearm

– Failing to comply with prohibition order
